In the past I did not give much notion to Bhagavatam stating:
"A person is considered no better than a crow if after receiving some food, he does not divide it among guests, old men and children, but simply eats it himself, or if he eats it without performing the five kinds of sacrifice. After death he is put into the most abominable hell, known as Kṛmibhojana. In that hell is a lake 100,000 yojanas [800,000 miles] wide and filled with worms. He becomes a worm in that lake and feeds on the other worms there, who also feed on him. Unless he atones for his actions before his death, such a sinful man remains in the hellish lake of Kṛmibhojana for as many years as there are yojanas in the width of the lake."
Now it makes obvious practical sense. While this verse describes specifically food-stingy characters; the insect food propagators, insect chefs, and insect gourmands fit the general category of harmer-scums of other living entities, in this case, kṛmi (insects.) In Sanskrit, the root of this word is kṛ - to kill. They kill the insects and they will be devoured-killed for mentioned 100,000 years.
While speaking about that, it is quite obvious that mental degeneration and derangement dive fast these days. In my short life-span, I saw humanity having higher values as far as recommended food goes. Not for long, they will begin to eat fellow neighbors as a follow-up of "scientifically" proven research benefits it brings. Just imagine. Your next-door citizen, whom you have hated for many years, will be tagged as unworthy, for concocted reasons, of continuous existence, and as such qualified to be consumed. You get so much protein boost by eating that fat bastard. Or you can simply sell him to the store if he is not according to your palate. As a side benefit, you can appropriate his wife, house, car, and stamp collection, and you will put his kids in the freezer for later consumption. This reality is nearer than you think because others already have planned that for you.
Let's watch what bad unforeseen and bad unexpected karma will this insect business brings in soon enough.
