sādhumaitrī nyāyaḥ (friendship among saintly persons)
Friendship with saintly persons is truly valuable.
The friendship among saints, and with saints, is based not on some material consideration of skin of color, language, political adherence, social status, monetary power, or the amassed knowledge. The binding element for the relationship is unmixed Krishna consciousness. In any friend-to-friend relationship, there has to be some common ground, so it can be labeled as a friendship. But only if that common center-link is Kṛṣṇa, the best friend, and the source of the friendship humor, that makes such friendship for all eternity. Then it is entitled to be called friendship because we have to understand that without God enjoying friendship, and passing it further into our lives, we could not experience what friendship is.
