sampradāyakalaha nyāyaḥ (quarrellings religions)
Various religious successions quarrel and fight among themselves.
Heavily materialistic religious groups have every cause to quarrel or kill others, pretending it to be it God's will. These hypocrites, having some distant sentiment for God, by their superficial feelings, make a bad name for religion in general. Unfortunately, they are missing the pivot point of religious sentiment, because they do not understand their own scriptures, teachers, and tradition. That is to love God by following His directions and enable the same to the rest of fellow brothers. This is nicely outlined in Mahābhārata, Vana-pārva (313.117) by great saintly king Yudhiṣṭhira:
tarko ‘pratiṣṭhaḥ śrutayo vibhinnā
nāsāv ṛṣir yasya mataṁ na bhinnam
dharmasya tattvaṁ nihitaṁ guhāyāṁ
mahājano yena gataḥ sa panthāḥ
“Dry arguments are inconclusive. A great personality whose opinion does not differ from others is not considered a great sage. Simply by studying the Vedas, which are variegated, one cannot come to the right path by which religious principles are understood. The solid truth of religious principles is hidden in the heart of an unadulterated, self-realized person. Consequently, as the śāstras confirm, one should accept whatever progressive path the mahājanas advocate.”
