LIFE RISKING WORTH FOR

Bhuliṅgapakṣi nyāyaḥ (bhulinga bird)

The Bhuliṅga bird gets his food by picking a flash from lion's jaws.

This Bhuliṅga bird has God-given courage to gather his food from the mouth of a lion, risking its own life. More or less everyone is compelled to risk his own life for one's own, and family maintenance. According to the amount of courage one has received from Śrī Hari, to that extent his occupation has greater risk involved. The bottom line is that one must sacrifice every last drop of blood of his life all because of trying to satisfy one's and kin's needs. If that is the only goal, which is adorable in modern estimation, that is pitiable vanity. The better is to exert one's courage for the service of Kṛṣṇa. Than even one looses his life, the benefit is eternal, and our maintenance, and that of our family, many past and future generations, is taken care of by Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa Himself. Here is one example from Nārada Purāṇa, but there are many more:

patraiḥ puṣpaiḥ phalair vārcyā

pūjā-rahitam acyutam

sa yāti viṣṇu-sālokyaṁ

kula-saptati-samyutaḥ

The conversation is between Yamarāja and Bhagīratha. It says that a person who in a secluded place worships Lord Acyuta (one who never falls or who can not be conquered) with fruits, leaves, and flowers, travels, he goes with seventy generations of his relatives, to the abode of Lord Viṣṇu.
