Uandha paṅgu nyāyaḥ (blind and the lame)
A lame man can not walk, a blind man can not see. But when lame man sit on the shoulders of a blind man, their effort combined, both together can walk and see, they can get to their destination and get their business done.
No man and society can be happy and progressing if individually each one can not rely on each other's help and abilities. Success of society is measured by the amount of cooperation displayed. If individual members of society works cooperatively in varṇāśrama institution, they not only benefit materially, but ultimately harvest the favor of Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Trying separately on their own, their spiritual and material endeavors will be of insignificant value, and their so called multifarious spiritual works will be harmful to themselves and to others. Exactly like blind man, trying to put himself as seer, will get only to the point of speculating what he sees, and while trying to walk, he will hurt himself, bump into others, and knock over and brake many items on his way. For all this there has to be common goal, i.e. satisfaction of Kṛṣṇa, common activity Kṛṣṇa – devotional service to Him, based on common teachings, scriptures given by Him such as Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Our activities has to be based on the instructions given by the Lord. We are individually each blind, lame, deaf and dumb, however, we esteem ourselves very high, which only proves our spiritual blindness. By learning and practicing teachings of śāstra we are able to discern our real situation of conditioned state, and spiritual nature of ourselves as well. That is meaning of nyāya – the tool of common sense applied logic.
