Golden Necklace on One's Own Neck

Kaṇṭhacāmīkara nyāyaḥ

One morning a lady was searching for her golden necklace to put it on her neck. She could not find it. Eventually she grew desperate, angry and frustrated. Finally her husband found her sitting and crying with her face in her palms. He pointed out that she should feel her neck for herself just to find the necklace there.

We all are looking for so much valued ultimate happiness. Yet we are searching it in wrong places, outside, as the lady did, while it is hidden in innermost corner of our hearts. But we don't know that, and we will never find out that, because we don't know what it is. We need a help. Without help we will find only frustration andunhappiness. Śāstra explains this in detail in many places. Nitya-siddha kṛṣṇa-prema 'sādhya' kabhu naya, śravaṇādi-śuddha-citte karaye udaya. First of all, practical love to God is our irrevocable heritage, and second of all, without listening to a true representative of God we won't be successful in digging out the heart's treasure.
